Leave our sodden prairie behind on Wednesday,

May 4th at 6 p.m. and come to Film Row Cinema, 1104 S. Wabash, 8th floor at Columbia College Chicago for a free showing of ‘Veins in the Gulf‘, a recently completed feature-length documentary about the Louisiana coast after the series of disasters–Katrina, Gustav and the BP oil spill.

Produced by Ted Hardin and Elizabeth Coffman in collaboration with Louisiana poet Martha Serpas and scientists from Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program (BTNEP,)  the film features Martha Serpas and a community of advocates in southern Louisiana including levee directors, musicians, writers and estuary program directors who are involved in trying to save their coastline from erosion, pollution, and environmental destruction.

After the screening of the film and hear from a panel that includes Martha Serpas, filmmakers Ted Hardin and Elizabeth Coffman, and wetlands scientist Nancy Tuchman.
