Do you know where your tax dollars are going? There’s a new Mayor and Grassroots Collaborative and Allies don’t want Rahm Emanuel and the City Council to the be like the old mayor. According to Grassroots Collaborative,

  • The Mercantile Exchange got $15 million in our tax dollars to remodel their bathrooms, despite making $457 million profit in three months this year?!
  • $250 million dollars gets taken from CPS classrooms every year, and allocated to rich corporations like Boeing, United Airlines, and MillerCoors!
  • Bank foreclosed properties cost the city millions in upkeep, fire and police response, while banks enjoy skyrocketing profits!

What can you do? Come out and see on July 7th, 2011 at the UIC Forum located at 725 W. Roosevelt Road, Chicago, IL 60607. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the event begins at 6:30 p.m.

Hear concerned community organizations and their speakers describe what’s wrong with the system, what’s right about new revenue sources that protect Chicago’s working families, and plan how to invite aldermen to partner with the people, not the corporations and monied interests.

Transportation is  available courtesy of SOUL, Southsiders Organized for Unity & Liberation. GET ON THE BUS! And join us Thursday, July 7th. For a free ride, you  must RSVP to Shani Smith at 773.359.6692 by June 23rd and reserve a seat.
