Do you live in Oak Park, Elgin, Blue Island or another surrounding suburb of Chicago? The Center for Neighborhood Technology (CNT) is looking for your photos of transit-oriented development (TOD) in Chicago’s suburbs.
By TODs, CNT means relatively compact, multi-use areas near or around transit. Think images that capture a vibrant street life, in addition to showcasing various alternative modes of transportation, including trains, buses, bikes and walking. There will be a $50 first place photo prize and two second place $25 prizes.
CNT will accept photos until September 5th (email ) and let you pick your favorites on their Facebook page. CNT will feature the photos in upcoming publications.
Here is what CNT is looking for:
- Suburban TODs and downtowns filled with people
- Special events like farmers markets or your favorite community festival
- Trains, buses, walkers, bikers
Rules -
- Photos must be original content.
- Photos must represent a neighborhood or downtown around a CTA or Metra station in Cook, DuPage, McHenry, Kane, Lake or Will counties.
- Photos must be at least 300 DPI and in one of the following formats: JPEG, PNG, GIF, or BMP.
- Photos should not reference violence, sex, or drug use in any way.
- CNT will showcase the photos in upcoming publications—available free to the public—and will credit the photographer in any use of the photos. CNT will not use the submissions for any for-profit application.
