Weird Al Writes One for the Grammarians

Published in July, “Weird Al” Yankovic’s new album “Mandatory Fun”  hit #1 on Billboard Hot 200 album chart. It is Yankovic’s first time with a number one album. Of special interest to journalism teachers, English teachers, and grammarians, is the song “Word Crimes.” The song lists grammar and spelling errors and makes fun of those who don’t take their pronouns seriously. It seems like it may be a back-to-school hit this September.

“Weird Al” Yankovic – Word Crimes

Al sings:
“I hate these word crimes
Like I could care less
That means you do care
At least a little
Don’t be a moron
You’d better slow down
And use the right pronoun
Show the world you’re no clown
Everybody wise up!”
