The Unwrap Chicago: Eat, Drink & Buy Local campaign is at its heart an education effort. We want the citizens of Chicago to understand the benefits provided by locally owned businesses: living wage jobs; economic vitality through recirculation of profits locally; environmental sustainability; community-specific goods and services; deep neighborhood participation, support, and accountability from business owners; and a unique sense of place that allows communities to attract patrons, keeping sales tax dollars in our city’s economy — and provide all of us with community meeting space and quality of life.
