See Documentary ‘As Goes Janesville’ For Free Saturday Oct. 20

America’s middle class is dwindling, and the debate over how to save it is nowhere fiercer than in the normally tranquil state of Wisconsin. In Janesville, as jobs disappear and families are stretched to their breaking point, citizens and politicians are embroiled in an ideological battle about how to turn things around.

See the movie “As Goes Janesville” on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington St.

There will be a discussion after the film led by  Sylvia Ewing, author, educator, broadcaster. Panelist include:

  • Tony Garritano, Manufacturing Works;
  • Beth Gutelius, Labor Research Action Network/University of Illinois at Chicago;
  • Jose Oliva, Restaurant Opportunities Centers United;
  • Sara O’Neill-Kohl, Center for Urban Economic Development, UIC.

The movie and discussion are presented by: ITVS, Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, and WTTW Channel 11 in partnership with Crossroads Fund and Kartemquin Films.
